Saturday Night Fever

The flashing lights should have set off bells, however these two were busy singing something, or were we yelling?... still having a hard time piecing the night together.

All Alone in L.A.

Everyone is gone.
I drove Curt to the airport this morning, and just like that, the visit of the millenium is over. We had some wild times, calm times and sun burnt times. And some gassy times. A lot of gassy times. A lot.
The most memorable thing for me was looking around at my family and friends, and feeling so proud of each of them as they've grown into the people they needed to become. We're all trying so hard all the time to make something of ourselves, and sometimes we need to be reminded that we're doing alright.
And it feels good to know that, doesn't it?
Hey Nick. A bunch of girls called. They want your ph#.
Ben. A bunch of 11 year old girls called. They need a soccer coach.
Curt. Namibia called. They need a Ukrainian guy with perv glasses on.
Really.
All those things happened.
Honest.

Mountain Hike and the Last Days

We lost Ben & Nick to Air Canada on Sunday, and they've been missed. Suddenly, we're not so good at soccer, and we're drinking way too little.
Compensation.
Well, we've been compensating by doing some L.A. things that I never really do too often. First, we went to Amoeba Records in Hollywood. That place is huge. Curt didn't find anything to buy, he's cheap, and figures downloading music online is much easier on an already thin bank account. I dug deep, and found a few Erykah Badu CD's for Jamie, a Gomez live double album and the new Zero 7 album. Some good listening. Money and trees and all that come to mind, but who gives a shit?
That was Monday...

Today we went on a 7 mile hike, give or take, into the foothills above Pasadena. The trail was pretty lame at first, but became more of what we were looking for once we got in deep enough.

The trails wound up inside the walls of the San Gabriel mountains, which was amazing. Good hike. The only problem we had was the # of houses we could see while doing the hike. There are homes everywhere!!!
Curt has to leave in a few hours, hopefully avoiding the strip search that Al El Israel Airlines gave him on the way down...or maybe he wants to get felt up. A possibility.
Anyways, I'm being a bad husband right now, clicking away on the keyboard, surfing that internet thing everyone's talking about, so I better get off before I get into serious trouble.
Peace from the Golden Coast, with just a bit of haze,

Thesis of Madmen

A social experiment between friends and family. A four-way active journal chronicling activities and news from Winnipeg, Pasadena and where ever Curt finds himself (In September, it'll be South Africa, to do some worker aid).
This is going to be tricky, though.
There are four different levels of technical expertise, which shouldn't be too hard to overcome.
The outcome is hopefully an interesting log about what's happening in our lives at any given time. Honestly, this seems better than ma
intaining our own individual blogs...we'll see.
